Chinese Retirement Village
Location: Doncaster, Melbourne, Australia
CKA was commissioned to research and design a modern 95 bed aged care facility with an emphasis on the special needs of the Chinese community. Available to residents of all ethnic backgrounds, this development aims at integrating the aged community with the general population.
The inclusion of a separate community centre, language centres, yoga and entertainment facilities and generous outside areas for community gardens and activities are designed to enhance the quality of life of residents, relatives, visitors and the local community. The new facility includes all support services including a dementia wing.
With land provided by the state government and finance largely through the Chinese community, when built this project will demonstrate an important collaboration between government and community.
